I would rate the trail difficulty as a 3. They were nearly out of merchandise. Trees snapped through and or uprooted and deposited on the uphill opposing side of the valley. Started in Tincup and ended the trail in St. Elmo. Tin Cup RV Park is set in the quaint village of Mahomet, Illinois. In the middle of town, turn right and follow signs to Tincup Pass. By 1918, the town had so few people . $8.00 for a third vehicle. Tincup Pass was in great shape, until you reach the last few hundred yards at the summit. This is a trial that I have always wanted to do. Still has some great views. It's absolutely beautiful though. The views at treeline was great, and I plan to return to camp along the trail later this summer near one of the multiple streams along the trail. Plenty of SxS's on a Friday, particularly as you approach the summit from the St. Elmo side and all the way down to Taylor Park. It will likely be completely melted off in a couple days. Ran from St. Elmo to Tincup. The trail features a few steep sections and a few narrow areas where two cars can barely pass each other. Drove up from St. Elmo and reached snowpack at 2.8 miles. Other than that it gets rocky as shit with some technical spots along the way but nothing unbearable just be ready for stupid slow and getting tossed around. It connects Nathrop, south of Buena Vista, to Almont, between Gunnison and Crested Butte. I run a JKU with 4" lift/35" Nitto Trail Grapplers and we did fine. $45 at BioLite. Once traveled by wagons, Tincup Pass is one of Colorado's most popular 4x4 destinations. Red Cliff - A tiny mountain town just past Minturn on US 24 from Vail to Leadville. There are currently two large avalanches that cover the road in debris and those need to melt out and be cleared by heavy equipment before they will open the road. Numerous camping sites, many of which were occupied by people with large 4x4s and camping trailers. Old Tincup Road goes right here. The is fishing and camping and people to talk to. There are many great camping opportunities along Tincup Pass Road and the area is quite popular with campers. The cemetery is unique make time to explore it. But definitely a blast! since its a pass, obviously the views are amazing. Wrangler 4L ALL the way, but slow and steady did it. The snow was about 2 feet deep until we reached tree line.
