AMDA's Emergency Relief mission for the victims of Jakarta Flood, Part 4
Followed by the success of the medical mission on January 23 in Perumahan Kemang, AMDA emergency relief team conducted another activity in Gedong Panjang 2 on January 24. The team consisted of 1 nurse and 1 coordinator from AMDA HQ, 1 medical doctor from AMDA Indonesia and 20 medical students from AMSA Indonesia. AMSA Indonesia continues to inspire the whole team with the power of youth.
AMDA chose Gedong Panjang 2 for the activity area since the people had not received the medical services despite the acute needs. In this area, there are 835 families (3,230 people) and the team treated 80-90 patients. Again, the symptoms typical to floods disaster such as upper respiratory tract infection, flu, diarrhea and dermatitis were commonly observed among the patients.
Team also provided 50 bags (2kg/bag),50 bags containing 600ml of water, 1 litre of cooking oil in each bag to the people.
A male of 50 years of age commented "we are very thankful for the help of AMDA. This activity was very helpful".
AMDA hopes that this medical mission and the distribution of basic foods also gave the people an important message of AMDA that "You are important for us and we want to build Sogo-Fujo relationship with you". AMDA continues the emergency relief activity which will lead us to a fair relationship based on respect and trust.
